“Yodel It!” is a premiere in Eurovision competition because of its alpine yodeling, a form of singing that was a longtime rural tradition in Central Europe, brilliantly performed by Ilinca throughout the song.
Mihai Alexandru is a prolific composer, guitarist, arranger and music producer (under the name of Al Mike), a man with great charisma and a unique way of being and writing, whose compositions were often part in previous preselections for Eurovision Romania. After many presentations in the national finals, he won the national contest in 2003 with the song “Don’t Break My Heart“ performed by Nicola and went representing Romania at Eurovision Song Contest in Riga, Latvia, ranking 10. This year he comes with “Yodel It!”, a lovely song with a catchy melodic line in spite of those difficult-to-sing yodelings, a great mix between modern and traditional, successfully performed by the two performers who complete each other into a great show of talent, glamour and… alpine yodeling.
Ilinca Bacila, widely known as a former contestant in “Vocea Romaniei”, season 4, coach Loredana Groza, and the 13 y.o. girl who amazed Mihai Petre in the talent show “Romanii au talent” 2012, is a young and talented singer from Cluj Napoca, Romania, whose innate talent for yodeling and singing brought her to Mihai Alexandru’s attention of choosing her to perform his song in such competition as Eurovision, together with Alex Florea, widely known as a former contestant at X Factor Romania, season 4, who is remembered as “the rebel rocker” conquering X Factor fans and not only. Originally from Constanta, Romania, Alex is a consummate actor and vocalist who chose to perform rock as he considers rock is the only musical genre that represents him best as rock makes him feel free and also makes him express himself the way he wants.
