“Kya Janu Sajan Hoti Hai Kya Gham Kee Sham” (“You know what grief is”) is an old Hindi song by R.D. Burman, first performed by Lata Mangeshkar, a famous Indian playback singer (a playback singer is a singer whose singing is pre-recorded for use in movies in which actors or actresses lip-sync the songs for cameras, while the actual singer does not appear on screen) and occasional music-composer, in the 1967 Hindi movie, “Baharon Ke Sapne”.
Waheed Kakar brilliantly covered this song, accompanied on guitar by Syed Muhammad Umar and Adil Kasi, a Quetta Records release of January 2016.
Waheed Kakar is one of the rising singing sensations from Quetta, Pakistan, whose melodious voice amazed everyone at his first appearance on stage when he won All Balochistan Universities Singing Competition. He is also the vocalist of Malhaar band.
